What we check on a Atlas install
- Nailing pattern — 4 vs 6 nails per shingle changes the wind warranty entirely.
- Starter strip at eaves and rakes — missing starter = wind lift within 2 storms.
- Ice & water shield in valleys and around all penetrations, not just eaves.
- Ridge cap must be manufacturer-matched hip/ridge, not cut-up field shingles.
- Balanced attic ventilation — required for the shingle warranty to stay valid.
Questions to ask any contractor bidding Atlas on your roof
- Are you a Atlas-authorized installer? Can you register the manufacturer's system warranty on my roof?
- Which Atlas product line are you installing? What's the exact spec — nailing pattern, underlayment, accessories?
- Will you supply photos of critical details (valleys, penetrations, flashings) before dry-in and after tear-off?
- Does the Atlas warranty on this bid cover material only, labor + material, or full system with workmanship?
- What's your written policy if a Atlas warranty claim is denied later because install spec wasn't met?
