Attic ventilation basics
Half the shingle failures we see are actually attic heat failures.
Hot attic air bakes shingles from underneath, doubling the temperature damage from above. Proper soffit intake plus ridge exhaust drops attic temps 20–40°F.
Code requires a 1:150 vent-to-attic-area ratio. We check this on every estimate.
Mixing vent types (ridge + powered + gable) can short-circuit airflow. Pick one exhaust strategy and pair it with balanced intake.
